I have had it in mind to write stories of my life but I didn’t really plan to write a book. I like telling stories and many of my stories are fun and exciting. Once I started writing in September 2025 this book sort of just showed up.
I started writing in 2016 and wrote randomly for a year and a half when I stepped away and didn’t pick it up again until September 2025. At that time, I started writing and couldn’t stop. I wrote nearly every day for ten weeks and I had a ninety-two-thousand-word first draft.
Learning how to choose words intentionally, deliberately, effectively and efficiently. This writing process also lends to speaking more purposefully, with intention and more accurately.
My story comes from my life experiences but Helen said to me one morning “You’re like a Jekyll and Hyde.” That one sentence changed everything I was writing.
Once I started writing, my biggest challenge was for my typing to keep up with the thoughts that were pouring out of my mind. And I should say I type quite well and fast.
This psychological memoir wasn't written after redemption, it was written during the reckoning. Written by the subject himself, as victim and perpetrator. That doesn’t exist anywhere else.
Also, this book changes people’s lives.

I first became a writer because I have many stories I wanted to share. Now I find I have many life lessons to share.
When I started writing in 2016, I didn’t have any problem until I had a stroke. After my brain injury I had no motivation to write until September 2025. When I started writing in 2025, I had no problem with writer’s block.
I don’t believe I could have properly used what I know now when I first started writing. I am happy with the evolution, and learning as I go. I needed to learn as I wrote in order to develop the stories. My writing experience with my first memoir happened in the best way it could. One story at a time, one day at a time.
I just finished the book cover design. I am reviewing the formatting of the book. I recently finished writing the Behind the Scenes story about how the book came to be. And my wife and I are building the marketing machine to sell the book.
No, I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m offering an understanding of how a good person can do bad things with no guilt and no remorse.
Some real names, yes. Some names have been changed. Many names were left out.
It's for anyone who has ever wondered how a person can live two completely contradictory lives and believe they are a good person while doing it. That covers more people than you'd think.
It didn't change me. It identified me. There's a difference between transformation and recognition.
